Hi Clive, and thanks for agreeing to do this interview. Maybe the best way for us to begin, is for you to tell us a bit about yourself and your company, Clive’s Easylearn Pop Music Schools.
Sure. Well, let me tell you about how it all worked out. Way back, when I was 21, (I’m in my forties now) I discovered that I could make better money teaching people to play music than I could in a job - or in a band for that matter! I'd played in bands, toured, recorded and it was fun, but the money was sporadic at best and often non-existent.
I was on the verge of jacking in music for good, but it was my girlfriend at the time (later to become my wife of over 20 years and business partner), who suggested that I use my music skills to teach others to play. I was skeptical at first. Let's be quite clear here, I WASN'T a virtuoso, just a regular guitar player who could also knock out a rhythm on the drums and dabble with keyboards. But then, almost by accident, through some of my early attempts at teaching, I stumbled on the secrets of giving customers EXACTLY what they wanted - and even more besides, and they kept coming back for more!
In my first year, I found myself with over 60 students every week. I was making better money than ANY of my friends in bands or with regular jobs, and had created an AMAZING lifestyle where I could do what I wanted, and earn my living from music.
Those systems, honed, tried, tested and perfected over the last 25 YEARS through the delivery of over 104,000 lessons, are what has netted me £1.5 million in lesson fees so far - and still counting! It's astonishing - a profit powerhouse.
So how did the idea for the Franchise Network get started?
